Louisa Estrada was the founder of the original Estrada’s Spanish Kitchen located in Visalia, CA in 1914.
Her children later opened other Estrada’s Spanish Kitchens throughout California including Cleo and George Nunez who opened locations in both Modesto and Colma in 1917.
The Colma location was then purchased by Julio Mercedes who has maintained some of the authentic recipes and traditions intended by the original owners to make it the Estrada’s Restaurant it is today.
“We often get asked for our recipes,” commented owner Julio Mercedes. However, what most people don’t know is the Estrada’s original family recipes were never written down. The Estrada’s did this intentionally as the recipes were intended only to be passed down within the family.
